Graphite Electrode


Graphite electrodes are made of petroleum coke, needle coke, and bonding coal pitch. Its production process is: calcining, dosing, mixing, forming, baking and impregnation, graphitization in a high temperature of over 3000°C, then precision machining. Graphite electrodes are acting as a conductive body which release heat in the form of arc for heating and melting steel in the furnace According to the application, it can be divided into regular power(RP), high power(HP) and ultra high power (UHP). Graphite electrode is an important conductive material in smelting industry with good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and high mechanical strength, good corrosion resistance under high temperature. Graphite electrode is widely used in EAF, LRF, submerged arc furnace (producing ferroalloy, pure silicon, yellow phosphorus, calcium carbide etc), resistance furnace (such as the graphitization furnace, glass melting furnace and silicon carbide furnace etc).

RP Graphite Electrode


1.The electrode surface defects or holes are not more than two places, and their dimensions do not exceed the following table.
2. There are no transverse cracks on the electrode surface and 0.3-1.0mm longitudinal cracks, the length of which is not greater than 5% of the circumferential length of the electrode, and the longitudinal crack width of the electrode is not less than the longitudinal crack of 0.3mm.
3. The area of the black skin on the electrode surface: the width is less than 1/10 of the circumferential length of the electrode, and the length is less than 1 / 3 of the electrode length.

Carbon Electrode


Carbon electrodes are used as electric current conductors in electric furnaces where silicon metal, elemental phosphorus or -to a small extent -other specialties are produced.
Requirements for carbon electrodes are:
good electrical conductivity: in order to withstand the high current density required by the metallurgical process
good thermal conductivity: to minimize the temperature differences inside the electrodes when in use and, consequently to reduce internal stresses
good mechanical strength: to withstand the stresses when in use
high level of chemical purity: to avoid polluting the end product
reliable joint: to ensure current flow continuity in the electrode column.
